FPA Binhdinh’s members suffering hardship after the worst flood in early November 2009

Many wood processing enterprises in Binhdinh, Vietnam are facing dramatically damages and difficulties caused by the worst flood, estimated losses of up to USD 6,6 millions and effects seriously to plans for production, especially in peak season.

The flood hit the central region several days ago and devastated most businesses’ offices, warehouses, machineries, material and goods in Phu Tai industrial park (IP).

Most factories in the north of Phu Tai IP had been sunk in water over 1 meter, goods that are ready for export have been damaged, components have been washed away, and now thousand workers are facing jobless.

The damage among FPA Binhdinh’s members estimated up to USD 6,6 millions and factories have to close for over months before opening again.

This year has seen many difficulties in the wood processing sector in Binh Dinh. Just after having signs of recovery, businesses have been damaged by the fierce flood.

In effort to help the enterprises suffered from the flood resume their production in the soonest time and help workers back to job, the Executive Board of the Association have officially called all business partners, customers, suppliers and other benefactors to give a hand to Binhdinh enterprises to help them overcome the damage, and resume their production.
